Maynard Ferguson

I was stunned today to read that legendary trumpeter and band leader, Maynard Ferguson has died. I was lucky to have been introduced to his music when I was 14. My friend's Dad had several Maynard albums and encouraged us to listen to them. Maynard changed the way we heard, played and appreciated music from that day on.

Thank you, Maynard. You had such a positive influence on me, as you did on so many musicians. You inspired me to practice and play and most of all to stay in school and perform in the band. Now thirty years later I look back, and can only say, Thank you...
